Bad Apple has impartial moved into town and has a acquire to determine. With the abet of her sidekick worm, she spins a web of temptation that traps people in what they like most. She wants to seize over the town and has place her sites on the mayor, a news reporter, and LarryBoy himself. Will LarryBoy drop prey to her spot? Can he overcome his worship of chocolate to set the day?
I’ll confess, as grand as I care for the VeggieTales series, the LarryBoy episodes are some of my least well-liked. I actually wasn’t looking forward to this release, but I got it anyway. I’m gay to be proved snide.

The set, while predictable, is fun. Larry has never been the smartest of the Veggie characters, but they don’t effect his humdrum here, a complaint in the earlier LarryBoy shorts. And the epic is comical with several mammoth lines and set gags along the method to entertain kids and adults alike.
While most Veggie videos cram two stories into their 45-minute running time, this episode only features the one fable. They don’t even smash for a “Amusing Songs with Larry” segment. However, they do include the counter top wrap around with Bob, Larry, and Archibald Asparagus. These scenes are easily some of the funniest they’ve done in several episodes. I was laughing the entire draw through them. The video does include a modern LarryBoy theme song, “Rock on LarryBoy.” Performed by “Shux,” they feature a unique vegetable we haven’t seen before. I bet you can guess what they might be.
The theme here is obviously temptation, and they do a mammoth job showing both the power of it and our need for God and others to serve us through. My only complaint is that all the temptations shown here are things that are ok in moderation like video games, TV, and chocolate. Of course, since previous LarryBoy episodes have dealt with lying and gossip, this is a minor explain. Composed, parents will probably want to point out that some temptations should never be given into.
The DVD comes with the standard Veggie goodies. We’ve got an audio commentary and slack the scenes feature for the adults and storybooks and games for the kids. The animation continues to improve with each episode, and the tubby surround sound is tremendous as always.
I may have to go attend and give the previous LarryBoy episodes a chance. If they are as advantageous as this one, I’ve written off a tall character in the Veggie universe.
I saw this in a sneak preview edition (no bonus features, fair Bob & Larry counter-top introduction and conclusion with the Larry Boy epic and ending music video) . I have to say that it is the best Veggie Tales product in years and even the best Larry Boy yet!
The opening banter/dialog between Bob and Larry (Boy) and its conclusion after the episode is sizable. During the entire indicate, the graphics are detached. The music is enticing and well done. The myth is compelling and, while at once simple, at the same time it is also cleverly crafted. There is determined and effective humor for the kids and more subtle and equally effective humor for us adults. And the true message is both certain and applicable to people of all ages.
I watched it with my wife and our almost seven year frail son, and all three of us loved it.
This one’s definitely a recent Larry Boy classic!

Let me begin by saying, I’m a Great fan of unprejudiced about anything Seth MacFarlane puts his name on. I was REALLY looking forward to this coming out on Blu-Ray and I was expecting intellectual colors and razor-sharp clarity. Unfortunately, that’s not the case here. Every plot I looked on before this officially came out had a different aspect ratio listed for this title.

The truth is, its a lame 1.33:1 corpulent shroud presentation that is, at best, as respectable looking as a standard DVD upscalled to HD. Simply meh. The very few special features that ARE included are in 480p. I’m really surprized they bothered to include a DTS Master Audio track on this title, because the majority of the skits are objective two people talking.
In the extinguish, I can’t reccomend buying this on Blu-Ray without feeling awful. Purchase the DVD version. It will see basically the same and you’ll be able to play it on unprejudiced about any computer or location top player.
Love Family Guy. Cherish American Dad. Hated this. There were a few chuckles, but mostly I couldn’t wait for it to be over.

Halloween. What a perfect title for a Fright movie. It’s hard to contain succor in 1977 that there had never been any movie, let alone a Dread film, that incorporated that title. And what splendid usage it got. Written, directed, and even musically scored by John Carpenter (with astronomical assistance by then girlfriend Debra Hill), this was truly a film that brought Apprehension to it’s roots, leaving an impact that only George Romero’s Night Of The Living Expressionless did ten years earlier. Showcasing a deranged killer by the name of Michael Myers who in childhood murdered his sister in chilly blood on Halloween night, only to dash his asylum to return to his Illinois home to hunt down babysitter (and eventually known puny sister) Jamie Lee Curtis 15 years later, was truly an unbelievable film that never exploited the genre, keeping the imagination and dread flowing within the viewers mind rather than blatantly on the conceal. For it’s time it was the number one grand independent film ever made, and after almost thirty years, it detached terrifies and never grows used. A legal classic film. Every single DVD collector should gain it….

But which one?
Not in the sense of sequels, but rather in which version of the new should you add to your collection. You eye, this film has had the DVD distribution rights by Anchor Bay Entertainment (now known as Starz), and they have re-released this classic now a total of six times. So I would like to compare the two most favorite versions to discover which one should be for you, the “Restored” or the “25th Anniversary”
Buy,Download, Or Stream Halloween! Click Here
Starting with the “Restored” version, this DVD was authored scheme help in 1999. However, it was personally restored by Halloween new cinematographer Dean Cundey, trying to retain as great of the perceive of it’s current theatrical race. This version has been released a whopping three times. But for the film’s “25th (2003) Anniversary”, Anchor Bay remastered the film yet again for another release “Halloween 25″, this time taking the remastering process in their believe hands, something of which Cundey was not pleased with. You watch, comparing the two’s video, you’ll recognize that each are different. One point is brightness and sharpness. In the Cundey version, overall recount is sunless and not as bright while for 25 the white levels have been raised and it’s overall color saturation has been lowered. To me, while the current with it’s sunless blue hue running throughout looks top-notch, at times it’s hard to glimpse clear shots in the shadowy. The 25th version has fixed that, even going as far as making the film leer more natural. As for sharpness, the 25th beats it by far. Audio wise, each film seems on the same level, so a tie there, but it’s the video that should be considered when purchasing: the Cundey-more proper to the recent film/the 25-a sharper, more realistic portray.
Next would be the exercise of the disc dwelling. Restored is one of those discs that wanted to cater to the early 2000′s audiences of giving them both a widescreen and a fullframe on the same disc. Because of this, the bitrate is aesthetic miniature for both presentations. However, the 25th is a 2 disc site that only offers on Disc One the Widescreen presentation, and it’s Divimax as well. But to be objective, it’s bitrate isn’t up to say Superbit quality. It’s better, but with a total of four audio tracks to resolve from, the entire dual layer disc is only obsolete by 75%, and that other 25 could have went to more video bitrate, but alas it’s not. But to me, the bitrate collected is higher on the 25, not to mention it’s compression is four years younger than Restored, so 25 wins again.
Finally is Extras, Restored has a 30 limited documentary called Halloween Unmasked 2000, narrated by Curved Sister’s Dee Snider. Why is he on here than unprejudiced being a common fan, beats me. But on 25′s second disc is a whopping 87 cramped documentary called A Slash Above The Rest which expands on the recent and gives mighty greater detail on the film. 25 also includes another ten tiny featurette called On Space, going abet to plan all the houses and such that were obsolete in the film that Restored does not include either. And if that wasn’t enough, 25 has the recent Laserdisc commentary by John Carpenter with additional vocals with Jamie Lee Curtis and Debra Hill. This might be the best extra 25 has over Restored, because it’s got to be one of the most personal commentaries I’ve ever heard. Carpenter doesn’t own anything relieve, a must listen. And certain, both have the same trailers, TV Spots, and such, but again to me 25th Anniversary wins this one too.
But the main reason why I’m writing all this is because benefit in 2007, Anchor Bay decided to discontinuance releasing the 25th Anniversary and instead re-issue the Restored version. Why, I’m not clear. Dean Cundey was never ecstatic with 25, and maybe his name on the benefit of Restored’s box was a selling-point, I don’t know. Maybe the 25′s screen was confusing buyers because it looks a miniature like sequel H20′s version? But I do know for your money, the 25th Anniversary is smooth the best plan to go. What’s dim is to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the classic film, Anchor Bay is yet again double-dipping it’s audience by releasing a six disc collection featuring Parts 1, 4, 5, the NBC-TV edit, the 25 Years Of Awe special and a Blu-Ray version of the modern. But again, both the DVD and Blu-Ray (BD version rumored to be a video-hybrid of both) are from the 1999 Cundey master (but the Blu does have the Slice Above special and commentary too) . It would have been nice if the DVD was the 25 so fans could have both versions, but no, 25th Anniversary seems lost now.
In conclusion, if you want the best overall 1978 Halloween package, go with the 2003 25th Anniversary Edition. More extras, a more realistic represent, and a commentary to die for. Ratings-wise then from me is:
Restored: (8.5/10)
25th Anniversary: (9.5/10)
Thanks for reading,

This recent, Extended version of Halloween is something no fan should be without! 12 minutes of additional footage (4 scenes) has been achieve into the recent version, and the result is awesome. These scenes were not deleted. They were really shot in 1980, when the film was released on slash TV. The scenes were shot using the cast and crew of Halloween II (another must stare!) and directed by John Carpenter, himself. These scenes include:

#1 A very well made scene where Dr. Loomis (Doneld Pleasance) has an intense conversation with two sanitarium officials. He begs that they proceed Myers to a maximum security ward, saying that the boy is perilous and has an instinctive forsce within him. The officials are unimpressed by what Loomis says, and simply support Myers in the minimum security ward.
#2 A scene directly following the previous added scene. Loomis walks into young Michael’s cell. For about 1 slight he simply stares at the boy, who stares out the window. Loomis then says “You’ve fooled them, haven’t you Michael? But not me!”
#3 This scene is after Myers rush. Loomis walks with a nurse into Michael’s room, which is completely trashed. The nurse shows him that the word “Sister” is carved in the door. (If you’ve seen Halloween II, then you know what this means) .

#4 This final additional scene is my personal common. In this scene we win a bit more of Jamie Lee Curtis, a bit more of PJ Soles, and a bit more of Nancy Kyes/Loomis. Lynda (Soles) comes over to Laurie’s (Curtis) house, and they have some girl chat. Then, Annie (Kyes/Loomis) calls and asks (unsuccesfully) if she can borrow some of Laurie’s clothes.
I really like this unique version of Halloween. It objective feels more complete. I know that these scenes WERE NOT in the fresh version, but it’s arrangement better off with them in there. John Carpenter has said he hates these scenes (as some other reviewers may voice you) but that is HIS opinioun. I worship these scenes. They gain the movie invent a bit more sense. For example, the scene wher Loomis fights with the officials really shows how hard he tried to regain them to disappear Michael. Later on he talks about how remarkable he tried to accept them to fade him, and this added scene shows you how true he is. The scene with “Sister” really helped connect this to the 2nd (making a mountainous double feature) . And the scene with Lynda, Annie and Laurie shows a bit more of their personal lives. Awesome. This version was only available on either the two tape Special VHS editions (where they were AFTER the movie) and on the THX Two Disk Anchor Bay Puny Edition (which is 150 bucks to remove on Amazon traditional!) . I tried really hard to score that two disk shrimp edition, but I was to tedious. So this here DVD is like a dream near good. Thank you Anchor Bay! I suggest (unless you have the two disk version) that you hold one now, before it, too, goes out of stock!
Halloween is Rated R for Shrimp Violence, Brief Nudity, and brief Language. The modern scenes bear nothing to offend parents who were OK with their kids watching the other version.
If you found my review obliging, be determined and give me a vote! Thank you!

Movie Title: Changeling Changeling is available for streaming or downloading. |
Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling” is not easy to gawk, but I implore you to give it a try. This is filmmaking at its finest. It’s all at once heartbreaking, infuriating, touching, empowering, and immensely compelling, which is to say that it taps into core human emotions without being manipulative. It tells a anecdote so curious, it’s as if the movie is happening to us instead of unprejudiced passing before our eyes. This is appropriate given the fact that it’s a suitable fable and not merely based on a factual story; screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski relied on true articles, transcripts, and testimonies to document the epic of Los Angeles native Christine Collins, whose nine-year-old son, Walter, disappeared in March of 1928. Five months later, the LAPD returned a boy Collins knew was not her son. Because the police refused to admit that a mistake was made, they deemed Collins an unfit mother and subsequently had her committed to a mental institution. But she wouldn’t be silenced, and with the assist of some key figures, she took on one of the most extreme cases of police corruption in Los Angeles history.

Angelina Jolie gives yet another fabulous performance as Collins, an unprejudiced, caring woman who was clearly striving for independence in a male-dominated society. She works diligently as the supervisor for a telephone company, so powerful so that she’s offered a managerial set. As a single mother, she’s firm yet nurturing, and she’s upfront with her son (Gattlin Griffith) about why his father left before he was born. After Walter’s disappearance, and after the sinful boy is returned to her, she initially faces the LAPD on her believe, which leaves her with minute since it’s a tyrannical system motivated by power, not justice. There’s a pivotal scene in which Chief of Police James E. Davis (Colm Feore) makes the following announcement: “We will own trial on gunmen in the streets of Los Angeles. I want them brought in wearisome, not alive, and I will reprimand any officer who shows the least bit of mercy on a criminal.” This is immediately followed by a shot of officers executing a line of criminals in the middle of a sad street. An elimination of the competition. For a system this dishonest, a persistent woman like Collins is seen as nothing but a disruption.
Of all the authority figures in this film, Captain J.J. Jones (Jeffrey Donovan) is by far the most obnoxious. He’s obstinate and domineering, bullying Collins into taking in an imposter child, who was found with a drifter in DeKalb, Illinois. Jones has the nerve to query Collins as a mother, claiming she was so ecstatic her son was taken that she’s now resorting to phony accusations. Her insistence that he carry on the investigation lands her in a dehumanizing psychiatric hospital, where numerous disruptive women are sent to endure constant medicating and cruel electroshock therapy. A superior but broken prostitute (Amy Ryan) tells Collins that there’s absolutely no winning with the doctors. If you smile too distinguished, you’re delusional. If you smile too petite, you’re downhearted. If you’re neutral, then you’ve lost touch with basic human emotions. All anyone can do is learn how to behave properly.

The only person on Collins’ side is Gustav Briegleb (John Malkovich), a Presbyterian minister and community activist who made it his life’s work to display the corruption of the LAPD during radio sermons. When Collins is committed, Briegleb takes it upon himself to publicize the disappearance of her son and rally the public to relieve her. This puts titanic pressure on the LAPD, as does the novel discovery of a crime scene; buried beneath a chicken ranch in Wineville, California are human remains. A mechanic named Gordon Northcott (Jason Butler Harner) becomes the essential suspect in a string of murders. I don’t want to pronounce any more about this case, but I will accomplish it a point to praise Harner for not playing Northcott as a fanatical stereotype.
Apparently, Straczynski inserted newspaper clippings into copies of his screenplay, unprejudiced as a reminder to the actors that everything being depicted actually happened. “The chronicle is fair so bizarre,” he said, “that you need something to remind you that I’m not making this stuff up.” Indeed, a lot of what Collins goes through is so injurious that it’s honest terrorized of being comical. She knows, for example, how vast Walter is, for she measured his rate of growth on a wall. The boy who was returned to her is three inches shorter than the last notch. Collins also notices that this boy has been circumcised; she knows for a fact that Walter has not been. A doctor sent by Captain Jones assures Collins that, after months of outrageous care and nutrition, children can actually shrink. As for the circumcision, well, she should never place it past a kidnapper to do something gross.
But what about the LAPD? Should she keep it past them to do something rude, such as returning the contemptible child and smart about it? It’s easy to discover this movie and feel unprejudiced as emotionally drained as Collins; there are moments where I wanted to cry, others where I wanted to bawl, and many where I didn’t know how to feel. This is not a criticism. The success of a movie like “Changeling” depends on a strong emotional gamut that reflects what the audience thinks and feels. This is, without a doubt, one of the year’s best films, a considerable human drama dedicated to the ideals of hope and perseverance.
Changeling is a grand film. It tells the forgotten yarn of a working-class woman who brought down the depraved establishment of Los Angeles 80 years ago.
Angelina Jolie gives a strong, Oscar-worthy performance as Christine Collins, a single mother and one of the first female supervisors at the phone company who refuses to bow down to putrid police when her son vanished without a mark in 1928.
Los Angeles on the brink of the Tall Depression was an epitome of corruption. The police chief, James “Two Guns” Davis, had an officially sanctioned “gun squad” that skittish opponents with impunity. When Collins’ son Walter vanished, the L.A. police were embarrassed by their inability to salvage him. To squelch public criticism, they tried to convince Collins that a young drifter was her son. When Collins protested, police Captain J.J. Jones labeled her as histrionic and delusional and had her locked in a “psychopathic ward.”
Luckily for Collins, her scrape came to the attention of Gustav A. Briegleb, a Presbyterian minister and community organizer who regularly lambasted police corruption on his radio explain. Briegleb helped Collins gain a lawyer and utter her memoir. Although the movie does not mention it, Collins’ case led to passage of a law that prohibited police from incarcerating people in psychiatric facilities absent due process.
Despite the compelling nature of Collins’ chronicle, it came stop to being forgotten. The ragged records were about to be incinerated when a city worker telephoned screenwriter and customary journalist J. Michael Straczynski and told him to near over and grasp a peek. What Straczynski read that day was so compelling that he spent a year poring over city archives to reconstruct the case.
Straczynski has said that he wrote the script to honor Collins: A woman whose “simple seek information from, `Where is my son? ‘ brought down the entire L.A. city structure.”
Changeling owes its aura of authenticity to Straczynski’s meticulous research; verbatim quotes from the files and roar testimony from the public hearings are incorporated into the script.
The film’s power also owes to its feminist message about a strong woman who refuses to be silenced by a depraved establishment. The scenes from the public hospital’s “psychopathic ward” provide a grim reminder of the horrors faced by women who were labeled as crazy for resisting male authority.
Clint Eastwood was a expansive choice of director to declare this account. The acting is uniformly obedient, the spot presses forward inexorably, and attention to detail is exhibited throughout. The plot shots are masterful in transporting us encourage in time, as Collins (Jolie) hops on and off streetcars in a convincingly reconstructed 1920s Los Angeles.
Although the film closely parallels the staunch history, viewers should be aware that Eastwood took some dramatic liberties, presumably to streamline the fable and highlight its good-versus-evil message. We don’t catch out, for example, that the missing boy had a father who was serving time at Folsom Prison for robbery. Nor is the presentation of the improper Wineville Chicken Coop execute case entirely just. Killer Gordon Stewart Northcott was indeed hanged at San Quentin, but the film does not mention that his mother was convicted of the Collins abolish and spent 12 years in prison.
For those who are alive to in additional background on that case, it is the topic of a just-published book by James Paul, Nothing is Curious with You: The Life and Crimes of Gordon Stewart Northcott. Conventional San Quentin warden Clinton P. Duffy also wrote about Northcott in his memoirs. Another source of information is the film’s website, changelingmovie.glean, which has reproductions of some of the loyal L.A. Times news articles on the case.

Movie Title: The Cat O’ Nine Tails The Cat O’ Nine Tails is available for streaming or downloading. |
I received the DVD for Dario Argento’s The Cat o’ Nine Tails (1971) aka Il Gatto a nove code when I bought a six DVD region from Anchor Bay Entertainment called The Anxiety Pack: Man’s Worst Friends, which also included Parasite (1982), Lucio Fulci’s The Gloomy Cat (1989), Slugs: The Movie (1988), Bruno Mattei’s Rats: Night of Panic (1984), and Zoltan, Hound of Dracula (1978) . After watching the film, it seemed an uncommon choice for the place which features movies about animals attacking people, as there was no animals whatsoever in the film, only in the title. Actually, this was the second of a trio of giallo films made by Argento featuring animals in the title, the others being The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970) and Four Flies on Grey Velvet (1971) . Written and directed by Dario Argento (Suspiria, Phenomena), the man often referred to at the Italian Hitchcock, this Italia-Franco-German production features Karl Malden (Nevada Smith, Meteor), Catherine Spaak (Slay Is a Execute), Pier Paolo Capponi (Defeat of the Mafia), Horst Frank (The Night of the Askari), Rada Rassimov (Baron Blood), Aldo Reggiani (Young Lucrezia Borgia), Carlo Alighiero (Blade of the Ripper), and James Franciscus (The Valley of Gwangi, Beneath the Planet of the Apes) .

Franciscus plays Carlo Giordani, a newspaper reporter who stumbles onto the chronicle of his career (maybe even his life), assisted by an aging blind man, with a penchant for puzzles, named Franco Arnos (Malden) and the man’s young niece. It seems prior to a break-in at a genetics research laboratory, Arno and his niece honest happened to in the plot, and witnessed something with regards to one of the scientists who works in the facility. The next day the very same scientist dies horribly as he’s pushed, accidentally on purpose, in front of a commuter relate. Giordani, when not making time with the daughter of the man who owns the research facility, learns the company is fervent in two secretive, potentially lucrative projects, one provocative a miracle drug, and another enthralling a process for identification of potential criminal tendencies by studying an individual’s genetic make-up. The leads hold popping up, but Giordani and Arno unprejudiced can’t seem to accumulate a wreck as the someone keeps brutally dispatching the witnesses before the men gather a chance to talk to them…whoever’s responsible for the fresh crime, in which it seemed nothing was taken, is going to mammoth lengths to hide their tracks, even if it means killing…eventually the tables are turned on Giordani and Arno as their snooping draws the attention of the homicidal maniac and soon notice they’re now targets. So who’s this homicidal madman? There’s plenty of suspects to settle from…whoever it is, they certainly don’t have a plight getting their hands `dirty’ with a miniature manslaughter…
I notion this was a really solid film throughout, with only a couple minor issues. One thing that surprised me was the marvelous production values that went into the movie. Looks like most of the film was shot on dwelling, which where chosen well. I conception most all the performers did very well, especially Franciscus and Malden. I don’t know what it is about Franciscus, but he impartial has a trusty presence on the veil, one you can’t assist but feel compelled to maintain your eyes on…certainly he’s a top-notch looking man, but there is another quality, a vigorous, manly man aspect. Gape for the scene advance the slay where he runs face first into a two by four being held by the killer…ouch! That’ll leave a effect…I was impressed with how Argento kept the chronicle animated along as well as he did, given the film is nearly two hours long. Some of it probably could have been excised, like the element of the storyline about the relationship between the owner of the genetic research facility and his daughter, played by Ms. Spaak. I’m really unsure what the point of that was, other than perhaps to overly originate the possibility that either one may be the culprit, along with a whole slew of other suspects, or objective to rush people out (which it did for me) . The one thing that stood out as the main shortfall interested the revelation of the identity of the maniac killer. There were no staunch clues within the chronicle that ever pointed towards any one individual, so when the mountainous notify occurred, it could have been almost anyone who hadn’t yet been killed. Oh clear, some additional supporting information was given after the fact, things regarding motive and such, but approach on, anyone can do that…it’s putting sly clues out their prior to the insist that beget a mystery truly fun and sharp to an audience. This may seem a fairly notable aspect considering this is a mystery, but I felt the majority of the film done well enough to compensate. I dunno, maybe the breadcrumbs were there, but I neglected to follow. As far as the deaths go, some accept gorgeous foul, particularly the guy pushed in front of the affirm…there’s couple of strangulations, a face slashing, attempted poisoning, and more…I judge my accepted sequence was when Franciscus’ character was in the barbershop getting a shave with a straightedge razor. The barber is griping about reporters and how the newspapers are speculating that the maniac killer might possibly be a barber, due the proficiency the killer has with a lively blade. During this time, we search for the barber, through end ups, shaving Franciscus’ face and throat, and his unease towards the barber’s agitated residence. Another scene I really liked was when Franciscus and Malden are in the graveyard, looking to dig up one of the recently murdered victims in order to follow up on a clue…the fun never ends with these two, I’ll screech you what…all in all, a very stylish, sometimes creepy affair with a few vicious murders and a solid storyline.

Anchor Bay Entertainment provides an marvelous, `re-mastered, uncut, uncensored’, sharp-looking print of the film, in widescreen (2.35:1) anamorphic, on this DVD, along with a decent Dolby Surround 2.0 audio track. Special features include a featurette titled `Tales of the Cat: interviews with director Dario Argento, writer Dardano Sacchetti, and musical composer Ennio Morricone (14 minutes), two trailers, two TV spots, radio interviews with both Franciscus and Malden (8 minutes each), a poster and unruffled gallery, talent bios, and a 5X7 reproduction of novel poster art on an insert in the DVD case, the flipside featuring the chapter stops. One thing potential buyers should hold in mind is that there are numerous DVD releases of this film out there, and while I have yet to stare them, I’ve rarely been disappointed with the quality on Anchor Bay releases, so even though it may cost a diminutive more, it’s probably worth it, in this case, to gain clear which release you’re thinking of purchasing.

By the design, if I learned anything from this film, it’s never to drink from a leaky carton of milk left on my doorstep, especially if a sadistic killer is out to regain me…
I had read somewhere that Dario himself didn’t contemplate highly of this film and Maltin rates it a BOMB. I was sceptical when I rented this one but in the demolish I was relieved that I did. It’s actually quite obliging and it has a cohesive state that keeps you guessing ’till the very destroy. There’s no gore here to negate of but Argento keeps things spicy from inaugurate to do and the actors here are amazingly estimable (compared to many other Argento films) . Check it out, it certainly doesn’t deserve a BOMB rating, and also, it seems that Dario is never entirely jubilant with his faded films, apperently he can’t even see them on t.v.

The DVD is as heavenly, magnificent and beautiful as the techniques themselves. The text is definite and concise without being repetitious. Andrew Galli, Producer of Studio Galli Production, Editor Eric Bailey, Associate producer and English version expert Yoshiko Wada and her collaborator Hiroshi Murase in Arimatsu have done something objective amazing for the preservation of these crafts and to honor the artisans who peaceful gain them. The scope of this living legacy is very inclusive with both the history of Shibori, and pracatical application of the techniques as they are veteran today. I was joyful to sight that some of these women (and men) are not 85 years obsolete! I am hopeful for the continuation of this broad craft tradition. The DVD will be a ample support to all of us who practice or voice shibori, and it should be of interest to historians and collectors of Japanese textiles as well. I know I will search for it over and over.
This was a very informative DVD with righteous cessation up views of skilled artisans demonstrating many different techniques. However, my copy of the DVD was contaminated and i could not play whole sections. I need to gather out how to regain a replacement….
Update: Amazon sent a replacement very snappy – most impressive-and this one seems to be working heavenly for searching the menu. I would strongly recommend this DVD for anyone keen in trying the various shibori techniques themselves. It complements the written descriptions in the safe books “Shibori- the inventive art of Japanese shaped resist dyeing” by Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada- the woman who narrates the English version of the DVD- and others and “Memory on cloth Shibori now” also by Wada.

Enigmatic and deliberately hypocritical, this is not a typical documentary film.

Taking cues more from video art than journalism, the film is structured thematically and is more complex than a linear historical gawk. The editing cleverly compiles interviews with the originators of No Wave, newer bands, and Sonic Youth (the bridge between) into a sort of a dialogue of confession and criticism. The director doesn’t veil the fact that the cuts in editing pervert time, which appropriately comments on the medium of documentary film itself.
Shot in NY homes and streets rather than studios, Extinguish Your Idols meditates on the conception of nostalgia, time, scene, and music history. The film is new for the ability to show the intentions of art through the musicians’ understanding whether they sound dignified or not. It’s clever and cocky and insightful. There are connections and contradictions. There are no pre-chewed short cuts. The film won’t order you what to contemplate, but it will build you do so.

I agree with the previous reviewer, this is DEFINITELY better than Baby Einstein. I watched it with my 2 year aged son, and I couldn’t steal my eyes off. Elegant animations with gentle themes, fabulous choices in songs, it’s not one to pass up! It reminded me a lot of the new Disney’s Fantasia, but geared toward babies and toddlers. My son couldn’t cessation asking, What’s that? at all the different animals floating by. You must glean this video!
Our five month faded son expects Classical Baby as piece of our daily routine. He responds and moves differently to each share and is very fervent in watching the animation. There are distinct parts he smiles at every time, clear parts that originate him kick and bounce in his chair, and only two videos in the entire series that consistently earn him scrunch his nose, furrow his brow and whimper until we swiftly forward through it or distract him with talk or a toy until the next song/video begins and he gets lawful succor into it. It is wonderful and I consider a tall plot to introduce your child to classical music, dance, and art.

4:3 ratio veil is very favorable transfer. However, wide-screen isn’t really wide hide. it’s a 4:3 veil chopped off from top and bottom. in other word, instead of having a whole theatrical characterize, what you pick up is represent that’s been chopped up both vertical and horizontally. what we are seeing is only 1/3 of what’s filmed, which is even smaller than 4:3. somebody cheated sizable time from paramount. setup menu is fake leading. I want to study entire hover span on F-14! It does fabricate spacious inequity on impact in fighting scene. movie this wonderful must be done factual. and while at it, accomplish it a anamorphic enhanced.
“Top Gun” is the mach ten 80s mega hit that residence theatre attendance on fire and established producer Jerry Bruckheimer and actor Tom Wing as two of Hollywood’s king size titans, slow and in front of the camera. All about a military flight school race for `the best of the best,’ the film stars Soar as Lt. Pete Maverick Mitchell. Pete’s too sexy for his leather bomber jacket and he knows it. He’s also short on pleasantries when it comes to wooing the femme fatale of the obedient skies, Charlotte `Charlie’ Blackwood (Kelly McGillis) . But high flying maneuvers between Pete and Charlie lickety-split fade from the school room to the bedroom. Then tragedy strikes and Pete has to pull it together to show himself as the hero of the hour. Val Kilmer costars as Pete’s annoying and priggish rival for the top honors; Tom `Iceman’ Kazanski. The cast also includes Tom Skeritt, Michael Ironside and Anthony Edwards.

What sets “Top Gun” apart from similar military film fare of the 80s is its ability to combine a sense of the miraculous within the gritty world of tougher than tough obstacles. The dog fight footage is thrilling and the status moves effortlessly from drama, to melodrama, to action/adventure story on testosterone overdrive. There’s even a shirtless notice candy volleyball tournament thrown in, with the guys doing their machismo best to ignite interest in the female population. However, the soundtrack album, which fueled the film’s high octane performance at the box office, now seems to have dated at twice the rate of any other from the 80s – build `Dirty Dancing.’ Kenny Loggins’ `Playin’ With The Boys’ and Tina Marie’s `Lead Me On’ have that faint tinny echo of a forgotten pop culture where hoop earrings and huge hair were synonymous with wacky-tacky red carpet glamour. Berlin’s `Take My Breath Away’ does anything but.
After the disastrous misfortune effect forth on Paramount’s `Footloose’ special editon, I didn’t acquire out grand hope for this transfer either. However, “Top Gun’s” anamorphically enhanced transfer is remarkably tidy and solid. Color saturation is very nicely rendered with velvety blacks and very pristine whites. Occasionally one will sign a exiguous hint of film grain. There are no digital anomalies (edge enhancement, pixelization, intelligent of blooming details) for a aloof video presentation that is definite to please. The audio has been remixed but continues to note that dated 80s quality that is best left to nostalgia for a time when sound wasn’t quite so integral to one’s overall appreciation of movie culture. Extras include an audio commentary that is adequate at best. There’s also a 6 fragment documentary that really should have been played as one spacious one, four music videos which will confound people as to why MTV became so grand, and some storyboards, production materials and vintage featurettes. So dwelling your DVD player to `cruise’ control and glean ready to region off for the wild blue yonder. “Top Gun” is a blast!
